About Competitive Swimming

As swimmers develop and progress they may show an interest in external swimming competitions.

Your child’s swim teacher will discuss their current level with you and if they feel they are ready to experience competition at a different level.

Once the teacher has agreed that your swimmer may join the competitive squad, you may express an interest with our External Gala Co-ordinator Siobhan Kaye, who will arrange to meet with you and discuss the pathway of competitive swimming.

Throughout the year, our competitive swimmers enter a range of swimming competitions across the district and the Yorkshire region. The aim of our swimmers is to improve their personal best times at each event, all the time become stronger and quicker in the water.

Competition day enables our swimmers to showcase all of their training and be the best that they can be. We are very proud to support all of our swimmers, both on poolside and in the spectator stands. Whether they are just starting out in the Under 9 category or competing in the open or Masters section, we value the efforts and ability of each swimmer.

Our swimmers (and parents too!) thoroughly enjoy the competitive pathway and although competition days are a range of emotions, the swimmers can’t wait for the next one!
